Cruel
World Team (CWT)
Hungarian Independent Film Company
1994-2004
The company was
founded in 1994 by young writers, musicians and amateur filmmakers aiming to produce
low-budget horror movies and thrillers (based on Italian traditions) for the Hungarian
film market. In the past years they have made many films and music videos including five
feature films. They prefer special genres like horror, thriller or Tarantino-like comedies
that are popular in Hungary but the "official" film industry has not so far embraced
this kind of movies. The members of the team are not filmschool-educated filmmakers but
they focus more on the audience's taste and so they are able to create movies that
appease the cinemagoers.

The director on shooting the film ‘Neverbeen
Gloria':
The story of the movie was just what I
needed to point out that I'm sick of having all my quasi horror films banned or censored
here and there, so I wanted to do something both the industry and the audience will have
to accept. We asked for ten million forints and got an answer in February saying:
We
are happy to announce you have been granted five million forints support for 35mm
film. How these people could think a low-budget film would grovel another ten
million to fund the transcription from video to celluloid I can't imagine, but
they've
basically given us another 10 mill in expenses, as well as granting us half of what we
needed. Phonecall goes, a clipped voice explains the method of keeping amateurs out of the Hungarian movie industry, as
we're merely farting around
as opposed to the true pros who dedicate their entire life to film. The
film's seven lead
characters are Gloria the unusual girl, Buju and Tettó the desperate survivors, and Hevi,
Bamba, Muszped and Ruszki, the four petty criminals attempting a post robbery. We knew the
whole thing's success depends on the cast, so we worked a lot at them. A motley bunch
assembled for all roles, and what's important: real faces. The rock
singer's played by a
rock singer, the graffiti-guy as himself, one of the episode-gangsters is an underworld
figure of Budapest, the homeless is a homeless, the junkie a junkie, the director a
director...
The story: Two guys wake up in a morning
after holding a crazy party and to they astonishment they see a stranger girl sitting in
their room. The girl stays with them and hangs around with them and they introduce her
their lifestyle that is close to full nihilism. Meanwhile at the other side of the town
four gangsters are planning to rob a post office. They get weapons, hit the place and
escape with the money after committing their bloody action. The two groups
don't know
yet that their fate is determined by each other actions and eventually everything will
collide in a terrific showdown!
EINSTEIN MEGA SHOTGUN
Originaltitle: Einstein Mega Shotgun
Produced by Cruel World Team (Hungary 2003) written by Mark Kis-Szabo videographed by
Tamas Szentkuti edited by Zsolt Bernath and Zoltan Vegh music by Zoltan Vegh lighting
designer Viktor Marko directed by Zsolt Bernath cast Gabor Csanalosi, Gabor Hirth, Peter
Jankovics and Marianna Fiath
About the movie: Cruel World Team has
kept a long break in 2001 after presenting the last movie Neverbeen Gloria,
but they hoped that their film plans would get some official support. In the summer of
2003 it was clear that they wouldn't get anything from Hungarian Motion Picture
Foundation. They took an old screenplay and started to organize the pre-production of
Einstein.... They had very little money and time but the film would be ready
by the 34th Hungarian Filmweek in February 2003. With this project they proved again that
it's possible to make funny and popular films with little money. Running time: 70
minutes, medium: Beta SP video, DVD. Language: Hungarian
The story: Two mentally challenged
burglars (with the nicknames Einstein and Shotgun) break into a house to rob it out.
Unfortunately they find the daughter of the owner there in the company of two crazy
hippies high on dope. Soon one of the hippies calls the police and so their chance to
escape vanishes. And if it's not enough: it turns out that the two burglars have won the
hugest sum of money in history of the country's lottery... and this is only the
beginning of the confusion.
